LOVE ACTUALLY

Love Actually, one of the greatest British films about love. It is sooo British and sooo romantic. I just love this film. I have watched it million times and I always love it.

"We may be a small country, but we're a great one, too. The country of Shakespeare, Churchill, the Beatles, Sean Connery, Harry Potter. David Beckham's right foot. David Beckham's left foot, come to that"

This speech (Hugh Grant starring Prime Minister) reminds me a lot to the one given by the current Prime Minister David Cameron in Russia the other day.

MOVEMBER

WHAT'S THAT???
It is very simple. MOVEMBER is the union of two words: Moustache +November. That's why during this month, men all over Britain will be wearing a moustache. It is not just a coincidence. They are fighting for a cause: to make everyone be aware of male cancer.

           just...GROW for it!!!!

THIS LITTLE PIGGY

I just remember this nursery rhyme someone used to sing me at bedtime:

THIS LITTLE PIGGY WENT TO THE MARKET
THIS LITTLE PIGGY STAYED HOME
THIS LITTLE PIGGY HAD ROAST BEEF
THIS LITTLE PIGGY HAD NONE

And that song made me think of the names for the fingers...

I MASTERED IT WHEN I WAS FIVE!

I TAKE IT YOU ALREADY KNOW
OF TOUGH AND BOUGH AND COUGH AND DOUGH?
OTHERS MAY STUMBLE, BUT NOT YOU
ON HICCOUGH,THOROUGH, SLOUGH AND THROUGH.
WELL DONE! AND NOW YOU WISH, PERHAPS,
TO LEARN OF LESS FAMILIAR TRAPS?

BEWARE OF HEARD, A DREADFUL WORD,
THAT LOOKS LIKE BEARD AND SOUNDS LIKE BIRD.
AND DEAD; IT'S SAID LIKE BED, NOT BEAD.
FOR GOODNESS SAKE, DON'T CALL IT DEED!
WATCH OUT FOR MEAT AND GREAT AND THREAT,
(THEY RHYME WITH SUITE AND STRAIGHT AND DEBT)

A MOTH IS NOT A MOTH IN MOTHER,
NOR BOTH IN BOTHER, BROTH IN BROTHER.
AND HERE IS NOT A MATCH FOR THERE,
NOR DEAR AND FEAR FOR BEAR AND PEAR,
AND THEN THERE'S DOSE AND ROSE AND LOSE...
JUST LOOK THEM UP ... AND GOOSE AND CHOOSE,
AND CORK AND WORD AND CARD AND WARD
AND FONT AND FRONT AND WORD AND SWORD.
AND DO AND GO AND THWART AND CART...
COME, COME, I'VE HARDLY MADE A START.

A DREADFUL LANGUAGE? MAN ALIVE
I MASTERED IT WHEN I WAS FIVE.

BRITISH VS AMERICAN SLANG

SLANG...???
Well, there are so many English expressions used in everyday conversations, than even Brits don't know.  So, don't feel bad about it.

THE HISTORY OF ENGLISH IN 10 MINUTES

At my university years, I learnt a lot about the history of the English language. This video sums it up brilliantly in just 10 mins!
Enjoy!
